The Germantown Charity Horse Show is pleased to announce that Kayla Michelle Benson is our 2023 Queen! Kayla was a princess in 2019 representing Oak View Stables, and we are thrilled to have her as our Queen.
Kayla is a junior at the University of Mississippi, and she attended Briarcrest Christian School where she was an active member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Club, and Ecuador Jungle Kids for Christ. Kayla is majoring in business marketing with a minor in Spanish, and she is a member of Pi Beta Phi and president of the Ole Miss Equestrian Club Team.
Kayla has always had a love of horses, first learning to ride at Kidz Country and Shady Creek Farms, and then training with Oak View Stables from the age of four, under Rose Marie and Trey Lawson. Kayla is active in multiple disciplines, including hunter/jumpers, carriage driving, sidesaddle, and foxhunting. She was invited to the USHJA Zone 4 Jumper Team Championships in 2021 and 2022 with her current equine partners, Corville Z and Reba. She also has qualified for the USHJA Marshall & Sterling Insurance National Championships the past two years. Additionally, Kayla and Corville Z were named the 2021 Zone 4 High Adult Amateur Jumper Horse and Rider of the year.
Kayla has had multiple championship wins as a junior carriage driver at the Germantown Charity Horse Show, and she has won countless sidesaddle championship titles aboard Corville Z. While she has had the opportunity to travel the country competing, Kayla’s love of show jumping is rooted right here in Germantown. Her second home, as she calls it, has given her the opportunity to reach her goals in ways she never thought possible. Growing up as a member of the Germantown equestrian community has instilled a passion for horses as well as influenced Kayla’s love of leadership and service to others. We look forward to a wonderful year with Kayla as our Queen!
