About Us – Germantown Charity Horse Show

The Germantown Charity Horse Show (GCHS) is one of the largest multi-breed shows in the United States. Horse enthusiasts from all over the country make the trip to Germantown, Tennessee, a suburb of Memphis, to enjoy family fun. The show’s heritage dates back to 1946, and owes its founding to a small group of fox hunters.

The Germantown Charity Horse Show is a five-day event featuring Hunter/Jumpers, Gypsy Vanners, Tennessee Walking Horses, Flat-Shod Racking Horses, American Saddlebreds, Paso Finos, Sidesaddle, and Carriage Driving. Each year, hundreds of horses and thousands of spectators make their way to beautiful Germantown, Tennessee, to participate in this historic United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) Heritage Show. There are activities and events for all ages, and GCHS is known for its southern hospitality and sense of community. In addition, the show drives more than $4 million in annual economic impact for the area, with other horse shows held on the grounds contributing millions more throughout the year.

Purpose

Promoting equine sports in the community, preserving the history of equine sports in the community, and supporting charities focusing on children, families and education

Membership

Open to adults and teens of all races, religions, sexual orientations, and national origins.

Volunteerism

With over 160 members, the GCHS produces the five-day, USEF-sanctioned Heritage Classic Horse Show each June, supports horse shows on the grounds year-round, partners with civic organizations to offer volunteer opportunities, and provides community service opportunities for high school students.

Fundraising

Raising money with a successful fundraising team of volunteers to produce a five-day horse show, support yearly maintenance of the show grounds, and spearhead a capital campaign to complete major renovations to the arenas and grounds for the safety of the competitors and the continued longevity of the show.
