Economic Impact of GCHS

Since its establishment in 1948, the Germantown Charity Horse Show (GCHS) has been a staple event in Germantown and is the source of funding GCHS’s local charitable giving. Each year, the horse show attracts thousands of visitors to Germantown, as well as hundreds of exhibitors and numerous vendors.

At the request of the Germantown Chamber of Commerce and GCHS, Younger Associates conducted an economic impact study of the 2023 horse show. The study focused on GCHS’s operations and spending by spectators, exhibitors, and vendors from outside Shelby County, demonstrating that the annual Germantown Charity Horse Show generates approximately $4 million in economic impact, but that only highlights part of the overall story.

The GCHS show grounds are not just a venue for equestrian events – they are an essential economic engine for Germantown and the Mid-South. The economic impact of equine events is routinely calculated using a formula developed by the Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce and utilized by organizations such as the American Quarter Horse Association and the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF). Based on the 2025 schedule of events held on the GCHS show grounds, the projected annual economic impact is estimated to be more than $14 million, demonstrating the show grounds’ role as a pivotal economic driver for the local community.

The GCHS show grounds support the local economy, uphold their legacy as a center of equestrian excellence, and foster meaningful community engagement.
